Windows & Doors Before & After in Santa Clarita, CA
Talk is cheap in this trade. You can read about frame materials and glass coatings all day, but what actually tells you whether a crew knows their work is seeing what they left behind. We’ve been replacing windows and doors across Santa Clarita since 2001, and the photos below show what that looks like on real homes in Valencia, Canyon Country, Saugus, and Newhall. Some jobs are clean swaps, some get messy behind the trim. All of them end the same way: sealed, squared, and finished.
Recent Transformations
Single-Pane to Impact-Rated Sliders in Valencia
The original aluminum sliders were original to a 1980s tract home in Valencia. In summer, the glass got hot enough to fry an egg; in winter, the drafts made the living room the coldest room in the house. We pulled all five openings, reframed one that had settled out of square, and dropped in PGT impact-rated sliders. The homeowners said their AC ran noticeably less the first August after install.
French Door to Therma-Tru Entry System in Saugus
A pair of worn French doors had warped enough that you could see daylight through the center seam. The homeowner wanted a single entry door without losing the light. We installed a Therma-Tru fiberglass door with sidelights and a full glass insert, then reflashed the opening with a sill pan and backer rod. The result seals up like a new build, and the hinges now carry the load without sagging.
Rotted Wood Window Sashes in Canyon Country
These wood sashes had been painted over so many times they couldn’t close fully. Once we got the trim off, we found rot along the bottom rails and one sill that had gone soft to the point of crumbling. We cut out the bad wood, treated the opening, and fit ES Windows vinyl double-hungs. No more peeling, no more rattling, and the room stays warm on those cold Santa Ana mornings.
Sliding Glass Door to CWS Multi-Slide in Newhall
The original patio slider dragged across its track so hard the homeowner’s teenage son was the designated door opener. It leaked during winter rains, and the rollers had scored the track beyond repair. We removed the old door, squared the rough opening, and set a CWS multi-slide with stainless steel rollers. The homeowner can open the whole wall with one hand now, and the perimeter is sealed with compression gaskets that don’t rely on felt strips.
Aluminum Windows to ECO Window Systems in Castaic
A hillside home in Castaic faces full western exposure. The original aluminum frames conducted so much heat that the interior trim was discolored around every window. We replaced seven openings with ECO Window Systems vinyl units with low-e coatings, which cut the radiant heat dramatically. The homeowners mentioned they’d been closing their blinds before noon every day; now they keep them open well into the afternoon.
Single-Pane to CGI in Stevenson Ranch
This Stevenson Ranch home sits on a corner lot with no shade and direct wind exposure through the canyon. The old single-panes had seal failures and fogging in three of the nine openings. We installed CGI impact-rated windows throughout. Impact-rated glass is built to resist wind-borne debris without shattering, which matters up there when the Santa Anas kick up. The noise reduction alone changed how the family uses their front room.
